John Fei assists with overseeing U.S. international economic and development policy in his role as International Economist at the Department of the Treasury. Prior to Treasury, Fei held a variety of positions at non-governmental organizations, working at the intersection of international development and politics. As Senior Fellow at the Mansfield Foundation, he focused on the political economy of the Asia Pacific. Fei’s previous experience encompassing Asia includes managing the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation’s Asia Security Initiative and assessing Asia’s defense, security, and political economy developments at the RAND Corporation. He also dabbled in finance, working briefly at Morningstar. Fei holds a Ph.D. in Policy Analysis from the Pardee RAND Graduate School, an MA in Regional Studies East Asia from Harvard University, and a BA, cum laude, from Williams College with honors in chemistry.
