I am delighted to share that I am this week's New Yorker of the Week for my work cultivating community uptown at Fort Washington Green Community Garden! It's been a very joyful journey since 2021 when the garden was founded! In addition to being outside in nature and learning more about plants, it's been so lovely to make so many new connections with my neighbors and fellow green souls. https://lnkd.in/eSCvqewS

Training has begun for the 5 Boro Bike Tour, which I am riding this year to support Christodora: Nature, Learning, Leadership. Support my ride! https://lnkd.in/esPY-xXu In the decades ahead, we will need everyone to care about nature. Christodora does just that, helping young New Yorkers form a bond with the natural world through programs in the city and the wilds of Massachusetts. I'm raising $1,000 - $200 down, just $800 more to go! Every little bit helps to keep the momentum going.

BIKING FOR A CAUSE! I've got just over a month to get in shape to ride ** 40 MILES ** as part of the 5 Boro Bike Tour. I'm riding from Manhattan to the Bronx and beyond to raise $2,000 for Christodora: Nature, Learning, Leadership! Help me reach (surpass!) my fundraising goal. If you don't know about Christodora, we are a pretty darn cool 125-year-old non-profit that helps students grow and learn through experiences through nature. We do it all -- we have classroom programs, leadership, stewardship groups, and rigorous nature immersion experiences in the wilds of the Berkshires. It's pretty amazing -- these kids go on multi-day backpacking and canoeing trips. They are roughing it for sure. As part of these experiences, they learn how to become leaders on and off the trail. Pretty cool, huh? So, why not help make this fun ride into a FUND ride!? Donate here! https://lnkd.in/eTYzDFSi

Yesterday I and a group from JET Alumni Association of New York (JETAANY) were delighted to meet the Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications Matsumoto Takeaki. We discussed our experience on the Japan Exchange Teaching Program (JET) and how it has shaped our lives. As many of you know who have seen the film, JET and the opportunity to eat school lunch with Japanese elementary students was vital to the creation of this film and our work to improve food systems. Thank you, The Council of Local Authorities for International Relations and JETAANY, for the opportunity!

Our last episode of Season by Season Podcast airs on March 21st, the Spring Equinox. But, on April 3 - two years minus a day from when we aired our first episode - join me and my friend Kit for a look back at 24 episodes - of seasons, nature, poetry, and friendship! At this special live event, we will wax reminiscently and share a toast to some of our favorite moments. We'll also introduce some of the people who helped us along the way! From poetry readers to writers to musicians, it will be a fête of nature and friendship.
