**China and Japan**: Xiaolong Yang’s research interests lie in applied statistics with applications in social sciences. Primarily, he is interested in political methodology focusing on the intersections of causal inference and statistical learning. His substantive interests span comparative politics (civil society & public opinion) and international relations (cooperation & IOs) with a regional focus on East Asia (China & Japan).
