Bae has published works on global video gaming culture and esports, with a focus on South Korea, in anthologies such as Media Technologies for Work and Play in East Asia; she has also published research on the advent of South Korean webcomics. Bae has a forthcoming article on colonial Korean filmmakers in the Journal of Japanese and Korean Cinema. After graduating from RSEA in 2014, Bae completed her Ph.D. at Harvard in the Department of East Asian Languages and Civilizations. She was a Postdoctoral Research Scholar in the Center for Korean Research at Columbia University’s Weatherhead East Asian Institute.
