Calvin Heng

In January, Calvin received the “Most Promising Solution Award (Governance/Geopolitics Category)” for his pitch “The Role of Asian Observer States in Restoring the Arctic Council” during the Harvard Kennedy School J-term course Policy and Social Innovations for a Changing Arctic.

Last month, Calvin participated in the High North Dialogue Academy, a funded one-week course on scenario planning and Arctic cooperation hosted by the High North Center for Business and Governance of Nord University (Bodø, Norway). As part of the course, young students and professionals from all around the world participated in field trips, workshops, the annual High North Dialogue conference, and completed a scenario-planning project. Calvin’s team received the “Best Arctic 2050 Scenario” award.

On April 24th, the Harvard Department of Germanic Languages and Literatures awarded Calvin the Einar Haugen Prize “for excellence in the field of Scandinavian languages and literatures.” Calvin plans to complete first-year Norwegian by graduation.

Congratulations and well done, Calvin!
